Application

There are several options for foreign students to visit and attend the University of Lucerne School of Law. In most cases, students will be coming from partner universities, either within or outside the ERASMUS network. However, students can also plan their course of studies individually and attend as so-called «visiting students», who will have to pay regular course fees. For detailed information on these different options, please visit the web page of the Registrar/Student Services Office or contact that office at +41 41 228 55 10. Please bear in mind that there are certain application and registration deadlines, so we recommended that you contact the University as early as possible.

It is understood that visitors are and remain matriculated students at a partner university during their stay and that they do not pursue a course of studies in Lucerne with the intent to obtain a degree. In certain cases, however, it is possible to receive a certificate of attendance or to take an examination in addition to having one's credits reported and transferred to the home university. Please contact the office of the Student Advisors for details.

Visiting students from partner universities will be selected by their home universities and offered admission on the basis of a process that is set forth in the respective agreements, whether these are bilateral or ERASMUS-based. You should contact the student advisor at your institution and obtain information about the process and the deadlines there. The bilateral agreements also provide for tuition waivers, which means that you will be exempt from fees here at the University of Lucerne while continuing to pay tuition at your home university. In most cases, your home institution will make the selection based upon mutually agreed criteria, and your application file will then be transferred to us for review.

To see a list of our bilateral partners, please click on the Exchange Agreements link below.  To get started with the process, be sure to look at our interactive Timeline as well.
